How to Measure Yourself for the Perfect Fit

How to Measure Yourself for the Perfect Fit

We understand the struggle. When you see a beautiful piece you love, your heart skips a beat, you click in excitement… and then check the size.

It’s two sizes down from yours.

Or maybe three.

And when you do find something that technically fits, it either looks shapeless, overly basic, or just not like you. It’s frustrating. It can feel like the fashion industry forgot that style is for everyone, not just one size.

But we love that more designers are doing better these days. Slowly, the narrative is shifting. And at Besida, we’ve been intentional about being part of that change.

We offer free sizes of beautifully tailored pieces that are thoughtfully designed to accommodate different body types, including plus-size women. We also include a detailed size chart to help you find the fit that works for you, not a number on a tag.

You don’t need to squeeze into something or settle for something oversized and under-designed. You can wear clothes that are bold, flattering, breathable, and expressive.

Because style belongs to all of us.

How to Measure Yourself for the Perfect Fit

One of the best ways to confidently shop, especially online, is to know your true body measurements. Here’s a quick, beginner-friendly guide to measuring yourself properly:

What You’ll Need:

  • A soft, flexible measuring tape (not the metal kind from a toolbox!)

  • A mirror (to check your placement)

  • A notepad or notes app to write it all down

Key Areas to Measure:

  1. Bust

    • Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust.

    • Make sure the tape is snug but not tight.

    • Keep it parallel to the floor for accuracy.

  2. Waist

    • Find your natural waistline, usually the narrowest part of your torso, above your belly button and below your ribs.

    • Don’t suck in, just relax and breathe normally.

  3. Hips

    • Stand with your feet together and wrap the tape around the widest part of your hips and bottom.

    • This ensures the garment will move with you, not against you.

  4. Shoulders

    • Start at the edge of one shoulder and measure straight across your back to the edge of the other.

  5. Arm length (for long-sleeve items)

    • Measure from the tip of your shoulder down to your wrist with your arm slightly bent.

Tip: Always use the inch side of the tape if you're ordering from Besida (our size chart uses inches). And don’t pull the tape too tight; your measurements should reflect comfort and movement.
